5 Days Itinerary in Detail

Day 1 – Arrive in Baku

Start your trip in Baku, the capital city.
Visit the Old City (Icherisheher), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore its narrow streets, historic buildings, and the iconic Maiden Tower.
Discover the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, a medieval palace complex.
Take a stroll along the Baku Boulevard, also known as the National Park, and enjoy the views of the Caspian Sea.
In the evening, explore the modern side of Baku, including the Flame Towers and Fountain Square, where you can dine at one of the many restaurants offering Azerbaijani cuisine.

Day 2 – Gobustan and Mud Volcanoes

Take a day trip to Gobustan National Park, known for its ancient rock carvings dating back to 10,000 BC.
Explore the Gobustan Museum to learn about the region’s history and archaeology.
Afterward, head to the nearby mud volcanoes, a unique natural phenomenon. You can take a guided tour to safely explore these fascinating geological formations.
Return to Baku in the evening and relax after a day of exploration.

Day 3 – Absheron Peninsula

Explore the Absheron Peninsula, starting with a visit to Ateshgah Fire Temple, an ancient religious site dedicated to Zoroastrianism.
Next, visit Yanar Dag, or the “Burning Mountain,” where natural gas vents ignite continuously, creating a perpetual flame.
Continue your journey to the village of Gala to explore the Gala Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Complex, which showcases Azerbaijan’s history and culture.
Return to Baku and spend the evening at leisure, perhaps enjoying a traditional Azerbaijani dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4 – Sheki

Depart Baku and head to Sheki, a charming city located in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus Mountains.
Visit the Sheki Khan’s Palace, a magnificent 18th-century palace adorned with exquisite frescoes and stained glass windows.
Explore the local bazaar to shop for souvenirs and sample traditional Azerbaijani sweets.
Take a stroll through the picturesque streets of Sheki’s Old Town and admire its historic architecture.
Overnight in Sheki and immerse yourself in the city’s relaxed atmosphere.

Day 5 – Quba

Depart Sheki and head to Quba, a picturesque city located in the northeastern part of Azerbaijan.
Visit the Qechresh Forest, known for its beautiful landscapes, hiking trails, and the mesmerizing Afurja Waterfall.
Explore the Quba Genocide Memorial Complex to learn about the tragic events of the Quba massacre during World War II.
Take a stroll through the historic streets of Quba’s Old Town and visit the Juma Mosque, an architectural gem dating back to the 19th century.
