Tbilisi Facts

Tbilisi is the largest Georgian city with 1.4 million residents. It extends over an area of 726 square kilometers in the valley of the Mtkvari River. The center of Tbilisi is laid out in terraces on both sides of the river. The other parts of the city extend over the flat or steep mountains and hills, so that the height difference between the lowest and the highest point is almost 400 meters. Surrounded by the mountains there are favorable microclimatic conditions. The average annual temperature is 12.8 ° Celsius, with January being the coldest (month with a monthly mean of 0.9 ° Celsius) and July being the hottest month (28 ° Celsius and highs of over 42 ° Celsius). It rains most often in april.

With folk festivals, for example the day of the wine, the moderate temperatures and the unique light of the long twilight, September and October are probably the most attractive months to visit the georgian capital.
